Belting out three tribute sets to the 80's most increditable female singers Skin City Angels ripped up the Hard Rock Cafe early into the morning last Saturday, keeping listeners on their feet.

On skins, Gary Morrocco kept it tight and flowing with Crystal Fawn on bass powering up the other side of the rhythm section. And of course Bev Sullivan on lead guitar and keyboard, making it scream.

After over 45 years of business Flossie's has closed ending an era. Lost is this quirky South Florida landmark known for it's Tikki bar and Sunday afternoon music. Tucked away at the west end of the Fort Laudale International Airport, Flossie's has aways been a consided off the beaten path, though surprizingly known by many.
Pumping out hit's form the 80's, Skin City Angels scorched the HardRock Cafe with the blazing guitar work of Bev Sullivan and powerful vocals of Kenny Wendland. Backing them up were the tight bass playing of Crystal Fawn and most excellent drums of Eddie Gresely.

Photos for JL Fulks at Cagney's Sunday December 19th performing Blues and Blues Rock in his unmistakable no nonsense style that packs a hard punch and extends a hand to get you back up. From the first show I managed to catch in 2018 I was seriously impressed. Since then he just keeps getting better - last night's performance was no exception, nothing short of amazing . Catch him now while he's still plays intimate venues.

Playing to the evening crowd at Ginger's, Air Waves to Heaven treated the audience to the full range of classic Zeppelin from the 70's. The advantage of taking in performances from a tribute band is the expert knowledge the musicians have and the passion or even revervence specific to the origial artist and peices. To the listener is the nuanced presentation and new perspectives offered. With Airwaves to Heaven, everything from the sound, presentaton and even methods of play were taken into consideration making the performace and rich and immersive experience.

3rd Place was Cat Woman; careful boys, I don't think she's been declawed yet, certainly not de-whipped.
2nd Place was Elvis and his lovely show girls. You can be pretty sure what he's doing once he has left the building.
1st Place, coming from behind, Anal Beads - a five person effort (refrain from visualization, just refer to the picture it's a fair bit safer). BTW: Is this a trick or a treat.. maybe both?
Jeez, just get that thing away from me.

If Metal is the material of choice then this is the band for the build. AOW rocks out loud shaking everything around it to rubble.
Bruno got some new toys in the media department and we just couldn't resist take'n the new equipment out for a shoot. Cafe 27 is known for great bands and for bikes. Located on Hwy 27, it's the perfect place to start or finish up that nice long ride around Lake Okeechobee.
Goes fast, make a crap load of noise, that's two out of three essentials covered for fun.
And talking about starting or finishing something... Hey Bruno I think the band going back on, get more pictures. I'll get the beers.

Photos are now up for The Valerie Tyson Band at the Rooftop Live for Saturday August 21st. The Rooftop Live is a chique open air dance bar styled in Miami's flavor of International Modern and located on the third floor roof next to the iconic Guitar Hotel. If you haven't been there - go. It's just one of those kind of things.
In all rights a full size R&B band, The Valerie Tyson Band powerfully served up a high energy performance of traditional disco-funk filling the dance floor with hit favorites from the 70's. Most striking was the authenticity of the performance and sound. The music, as updated as it might be, carried that sweet period feel inviting you to recall the heyday of disco and the sheer fun of dance parties.

We continue to keep the Performance Calendar up to date, but more importantly the Performers & Acts page can filter bands by genre. Now if only there was enough information to categorize all the performers so this feature could be used to a great effect.
It's a fairly big task but we've started gathering up the information on venues and times for live music in the greater Broward area. This is being put into the site calendar. We're also working on the the new functionality that will allow you tune your searchs for the acts, rooms and times you're looking for.
BTW, if you see Bruno the photographer out & about, let him know what else the site could use.

The photos for Blues Over Easy, July 28th's Jam at Kelly Brothers Irish Pub, are up.
Kelly's Irish Pub, is a warm and inviting neighborhood bar and restaurant. Its one of the most intimate venues for any music in South Florida making Blues Over Easy a serious affair with some of the best sit-in musicians around. As Jam nights go, this is bucket list stuff.
Kelly's is close to all the action in Fort Lauderdale yet still easy to get to with parking a snap. Staff & service is outstanding and to make things a just little funky, after the Jam, head upstairs to the Upper Deck to finish out your night.

Photos up for All That Jazz Jam Night. Check back as more may be added.
Fresh from All That Jazz Cafe, tonight was a wonderful treat. A group of talented young musicians took the stage to perform standards and improvisations. So much brass (Trumpets, Trombone and Sax) I thought for a moment we might tilt a little to big band.

SoFloJam.com is where you can find photos from local Jam Nights form the Broward, Dade and Palm Beach areas. The site was started in appreciation of musicians getting together on these off-nights and playing with different people and trying new things.
The photos here provide a window to the informal side of the musical experience with performers sitting in with each other, open to creative interplay and the indulgences of improvisation.
Please feel free to browse the site's galleries and thank you for taking the time to visit.
